Closed Circuit and Secure Test Track

Test Track

Finding a closed circuit and secure roadway for training and evaluating automobiles, and testing vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Calspan operates such a facility in Buffalo, New York, across the street from Niagara International Airport. You can fly in, test, and fly out all in the same day quickly and efficiently.

Calspan’s test track consists of a 1,000-foot four-lane roadway surrounded by a 350-foot diameter dry patch circle. This area can be reconfigured to have intersections, roadside, traffic control and communication devices. There is also a curved, banked wall.

The test track is available to rent, and Calspan has the resources to support just about any customer need.

Test Track Services + Benefits

Calspan’s Test Track is commonly used to test open road toll collection systems. Under this test scenario, a gantry is constructed to mount overhead high-speed cameras, night vision cameras and antennas. A test operations building is set up adjacent to the track to orchestrate and monitor testing, which includes vehicles like passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles and commercial trucks aligned in various configurations and traveling at speeds up to 55 mph.
