We are pleased to announce that Paul Damphousse, Vice President of Business Development at Calspan, has been appointed to the FAA’s Commercial Space Transportation Advisory Committee (COMSTAC). This industry-led committee provides information, advice, and recommendations to the U.S. Department of Transportation through the FAA regarding technology, business, and policy issues relevant to oversight of the U.S. commercial space transportation sector. Its goal is to maintain public safety, streamline launch and reentry regulations, and facilitate commercial human spaceflight.
Mr. Damphousse leads business development efforts across all of Calspan’s aerospace markets including Flight Research operations, Transonic Wind Tunnel, test equipment, engineering and manufacturing. He also leads marketing and communications across the Calspan family of companies.
Damphousse retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 22 years of honorable service as a pilot and Space Operations Officer. He holds a Master of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems. In his previous roles, he served as Chief of Advanced Concepts for the National Security Space Office, Executive Director of the National Space Society, CEO/Founder of General Astronautics, LLC, and Senior Director of Business Development for SES Government Solutions and Spire Global, Inc.
“We are honored to have Paul lend his talents and wealth of industry experience to this important federal advisory committee. The rapidly evolving technology makes the work of COMSTAC essential to public safety while ensuring that our nation remains on the front lines of this developing sector,” stated Calspan President Peter Sauer.
Mr. Damphousse will serve as the Chair of the Innovation and Infrastructure Working Group, a role in which he will leverage his experience and knowledge of the aerospace industry.
