Aircraft Operations

Calspan has a 75-year legacy of unique aircraft modification and flight test excellence, tracing its lineage all the way back to the Research and Development branch of the Curtiss-Wright Aircraft Corporation in the 1940’s.

The Calspan name has been and continues to be synonymous with flight test excellence. Calspan’s reputation has been built on the shoulders of several generations of Calspan test pilots, engineers and maintainers who have modified and put Government and company-owned test aircraft equipped with state-of-the-art equipment through their paces in a quest to provide quality, meaningful, relevant, and timely data to our customers. The current generation of Calspan personnel is ready to bring their technical expertise to the safe and efficient execution to your project.

Calspan employs a highly experienced, multi-disciplined mix of experimental test pilots, engineers, mechanics and technicians in a vertically integrated personnel architecture to design, fabricate, install, integrate and support modifications to Calspan and Government-furnished aircraft. The vast majority of aircraft modifications are done in-house by Calspan personnel. Subsequent ground and flight tests are conducted by Calspan pilots and engineers. Calspan has successful experience with acquiring FAA and military airworthiness approvals.
