Flight & Load Combination RAT Testing
RAM AIR TURBINES
When a Ram Air Turbine is deployed, it is required to generate continuous emergency power until the aircraft can safely land. It must be able to withstand a variety of flight conditions and simulated load combinations for potentially hundreds of hours.
As a variable density, closed loop continuous wind tunnel, Calspan can provide hours of continuous operation throughout a flight envelope to meet the stringent endurance requirements of RAT testing. Customers are able to vary simulated loads during the test as needed. Typically, the nature of this RAT testing allows Calspan to dedicate a smaller staff which reduce the cost to our customer.
